NHL Ice Breaker named top game, new edition now available!

Card Sports & Entertainment Inc. (CSE Games) is very pleased to announce that NHL Ice Breaker: The Card Hockey Board Game has been honored with a pair of awards from one of the foremost authorities in the world of board games. Tom Vasel and Sam Healey of The Dice Tower named NHL Ice Breaker Top 10 Board Game and #1 Card Game of 2006. The announcement was made this past summer on both The Dice Tower’s website (www.thedicetower.com) and their bi-weekly board game podcast.

“This is a great culmination of all the hard work we have put in – and continue to put in – to our products”, says CSE Games President Fabio Del Rio. “Obviously we are thrilled that such reputable board game critics like the guys at The Dice Tower would rate NHL Ice Breaker among the very best in the entire industry. It’s a heck of an honor.”

Coming off a strong ‘rookie season’ of both commercial and critical success, a new edition of NHL Ice Breaker is set to hit stores in November 2007. The new version features all the updated NHL team logos for the 2007-08 season, as well as redesigned packaging, playing deck and game board. Designed in Canada , virtually the entire game is now made in the USA .

NHL Ice Breaker is best described as a combination of a playing card game and a board game. While it has all the great elements of a classic board game, NHL Ice Breaker action derives from the specially-designed 54-card playing deck. Each card allows players to make the pass, take the shot or stack the pads for the save, simulating all the fast-paced action of the game of hockey. The game features all 30 National Hockey League teams and includes a team ‘trump card’ element, adding yet another level of skill and strategy. It is, however, remarkably easy to learn, given the familiarity of the standard 54-card playing deck and some simple card game mechanics. NHL Ice Breaker takes five minutes to learn and is recommended for ages eight and up.

This is the second CSE Games sports title to receive a significant industry award. Late last year, Card Football Premiere Edition was named Top 10 Card Game of 2006 by Erik Arneson of About.com Board Games (a New York Times Company).
